What do you wear when you go on vacation? I am spending some time this morning deliberating about what to put in my suitcase as we prepare for our hurricane-riddled trip to the east coat tomorrow night. I’m planning my color-theme, and think it’s going to consist of a lot of bright colors with white thrown in for good measure.
Before I travel, I think about my destination and how I want to experience it. Do I want to fit in or stand out? On vacation, it really feels more comfortable to me to blend in and feel like a local, but I don’t want to shop for a whole new wardrobe to achieve this effect. When I think of the east coast, I think of classic preppy looks, like boat shoes and cuffed jeans. I try to pack things that I already own to fit within this style. Thus, here is my twist on vacation preppy, with purple pants and woven loafers. I think I might still stand out, but not in a bad way.
