Summertime, you really make things challenging. First, you make me not want to wear clothing. Second, the clothing you do make me want to wear requires customized undergarments. Third, everything remotely professional seems too heavy to wear when it’s 105 outside. What is a girl to do? Maybe move to Montana. Or invest in some well-tailored work separates that make you feel put together and cool (both definitions).
- A high-waisted skirt. The one I have here has an a-line shape that is actually breezier than a straight-forward pencil skirt.
- A white tank. You will see that in the next few posts, I wear this tank A LOT. That’s because it’s versatile as heck. Here it’s tucked in and gives a summery polish.
- Pale neutrals. I like the navy print on this skirt because it’s easy to wear with lighter colors. Though I have been known to wear black in summer, there’s something about the crispness of white that really makes me happy. This handbag is a great neutral green, too.
- A light summer blazer. I am not wearing one here because I am outside and not completely insane, but for work, this outfit would look brilliant topped off with this little baby here:

I love your skirt! Sheesh. Why did you find all the good stuff at Last Call?!
don’t you look peppy and summery!
Love the skirt with the belt! Super cute outfit that I could see working at more places than just work. Nice!
yep, pretty much my summer work outfit. i want your skirt! (and what is this Last Call you speak of?)
I love the print on your skirt. It’s so bold.

I love your chevron skirt!! I struggle with summer office dressing, it’s too cold for a tank, but not cold enough for a blazer. (well, maybe the linen one with the cropped sleeves, but who want to iron in this heat?)
Um, that skirt is amazing. And nice specs! I love that green/blue mix – they really suit you.

I love basic tanks for the simple reason that they go with just about everything! And your skirt–perfect for the office.
super fab skirt.
I’m envious.
let me know if you ever get tired of that sucka.
:)))
That skirt is great. It’s really flattering on you and looks nice and light for summer. Great simple outfit. I love that it can transition into work clothes so easily.
Awesome skirt! When I’m reading this post I’m glad that I’m still a student with no dress-codes 😀 A blazer in summer… ouch. But aren’t there these blazers out of jersey? Maybe these are a good option for 105+ outside.
