Anyway. Printed pants. Kind of a scary, right? I have made a few printed errors in my day. I once owned a paint-splattered three-tiered acid-washed ruffled skirt, for instance. So these floral babies are really not that big a deal compared to that, right? I think the key to doing print on the bottom is color and proportion. These are cropped, and such bright colors that they can look kind of soccer-mom-esque if paired with a matching color. So here I have chosen my trusty grey tank (layered over a darker grey tank) and scrunched up the legs a little so the length of the top doesn’t fight with the pants too much. Add a little height with the chunky shoe, and it’s kind of a wacky sporty floral party up in here. Uh, right?
Printed pants should be worn in the same style you are accustomed to, and if you’re a little worried about magnifying your lower half, try prints like tiny polka dots or florals with a dark background. Flowy long wide-legged printed pants can be very flattering and easy to wear!

i’m kind of in love with everything about your outfit!
i haven’t had patterned pants since i was, um, 18? and thought that pink and white floral capris looked amazing on. (hey 18-year-old anna marie? they didn’t!)

Love this – somehow the pants are a feature but not a FEATURE (you know those outfits where it’s way too obvious that it’s built around one flashy thing? Well this is not one of those outfits – it’s all coherent and stuff.). So…well done.
Also I just need to say that I bought skinny cargos recently. I thought I would never take that plunge, but your post a month or so ago convinced me. And I am oh so glad it did!

These are cool! They almost look like paint splatters and not flowers.
I have been searching for an excellent pair of patterned pants for quite some time now and I just can’t seem to find them. I think part of it is because I am looking only in thrift/secondhand stores. I think the other part is that every time I try something on, I feel like a complete goofball and think that everyone is going to point and laugh at me and wonder why I am wearing a pair of pants with ducks on them. However, seeing that they can be pulled off, I think I might have to up my search efforts. I think as long as the rest of the outfit is more basic/neutral, I can do it. But maybe I should stay away from the ducks.
Love this outfit, as always. It looks perfect for a hot summer evening.
