Funny that I just received a sheer-centric text just before writing this here post! A lovely client wanted to know what to wear underneath a sheer top: nude bra? Black? Camisole? I think there are a few ways to go, depending on how wild and crazy you want to get (if you consider bra-showing wild or crazy).

• Light-colored sheer with nude camisole. Since I was taking care of business like banking, grocery shopping, going to the vet, and seeing a client in Lakeway, I decided to go with this option. The nude camisole basically takes the sheerness out of the entire torso of the top, thus rendering only the arms and shoulders sheer. Perfectly appropriate for a non-edgy day look. I would have just worn a sheer bra with this if I was seeing friends, or doing something less professional, and it wouldn’t have made anyone upset (I don’t think).
• Dark-colored sheer with a dark bra or camisole. I love the black on black sheer look for evening. It’s covered-up but still sexy, and you get to show off that nice bra you’ve got, right? I would stick to the dark camisole for daytime black, but that’s just me.
• Colored bras under sheer tops. This is a pretty fun look that’s not for everyone, but can totally be pulled off. I think it’s important to have a sense of humor when doing this, and also to keep the sheer top very loose. I think an orange or blue bra with a flowy sheer top or a black bra under a darker colored sheer number looks pretty awesome. Just make sure that bra has full coverage and keep the rest of the outfit simple.
