I don’t know about you guys, but I am just about ready to lose my mind if I don’t get a vacation from this horrible heated dome called Texas. Alas, our annual family trip to Provincetown isn’t until the end of August! How was I to know that it would feel like August all summer long? So, instead I decided to dress like I am on an island somewhere, sipping from a straw that’s sticking out of a hole punched in a coconut. How can you dress to drink from a coconut too?
- Wear something with an over-sized print. This top is ridiculously graphic when it comes to pink flowers. Choose the biggest, boldest print you can find. Think muumuus, think neon.
- Try also exaggerated sizes. Longer belled sleeves, deep v-necks, wide flared pants. As long as the fabric is light, even sheer, you can get away with something drapey, almost tent-like. I mean, it’s a vacation, isn’t it?
- Wear a strappy wedge or heel. Elevate your muumuu with some sexy footwear! Try a bright color or a metallic to really amp up the volume.

I’m on vacation in Florida right now (The high today was 87!) and have realized that my packing pattern tends toward the excessive. I essentially pack every item that I’ve worn in the last month, then try to put together outfits throughout the week. I’m not sure if that’s really a “packing style” so much as a “personal flaw”!
My husband went on a work trip and is now taking a mini-vacation in Europe…without me, as I’m stuck here working on a research project :(. But I love the idea of bringing the vacation idea to real life!! (Also, a secret upside to this situation is that I don’t have to pick up after myself for the next 2 weeks…muah haha.)
