I really seem to be on a leopard kick lately, and I’m not sure how it happened…I think it’s because leopard is neutral in color and can go with anything else color-wise, but it’s a little more exciting than just a plain neutral skirt, cardigan, or in this case, pair of socks. I really love how the magenta twitter blouse plays with the print, and I had a fun time putting this outfit together, even though it does seem pretty simple.

How you can mix up a basic button down/cardigan/jeans outfit:

• Try some higher-waisted pants, and tuck your top in. It works for more people that you’d think, and it gives the outfit a sort of ladylike/70’s kind of vibe. I love that!
• Add print. Wear a floral cardigan instead of a navy one, or wear some crazy printed or textured socks (not Halloween socks, though, please).
• Use accessories to add some kick. If you still feel kind of basic, try some big earrings or a bangle bracelet to add a little extra girly flair.

You probably don’t need to do too much after you’ve tucked your shirt in, though. It’s amazing how far a waist will take you!
