Last week, while I was pre-shopping for a client, I also spent a little time refreshing my fall wardrobe with a few key pieces found around the Domain in Austin. I was on the hunt for a blazer (more on that coming up), but I was extremely inspired by the great new colors they’re stocking lately. When I glimpsed these coral corduroys I knew they had to be mine.
I know some of my clients have feared bright colors, but wearing colors doesn’t have to be scary. Here are some ways you can add bright color without changing your whole entire look:
1. Try wearing one bright piece with your neutrals. Try anchoring your look with neutrals until you’re used to those bright pieces. If you’re really really new to color–just get some bright flats or a necklace to start. A color like coral looks best with lighter shades in the opposite family, like grey and white, but if you get something purple or cobalt, adding black, navy, or camel will look great too. White is generally great with anything.
2. Try “color-blocking” when you get more comfortable. Wearing more than one bright color in one outfit is one of the biggest trends of the year. Select colors you love and see how they work together. Color-blocking looks best with simple shapes and clean tailored lines (think simple pieces that fit you well).
3. Don’t worry. The best way to pull off bright colors is to just wear them and not worry about it! Color should really make you feel confident and brave.

Excellent color combo, my lady. How do you like those cords? Do they stretch out a lot?

Just. love.
What are you doing to me woman?? I thought I had my fall wardrobe all thought out……. now I need some bright colored pants!!
oops, sorry, Cathy!
I agree- If you are going to try bright colors, you have to just do it and own it! I really like these two colors together – they compliment each other perfectly.
Ckay, so I’m coming to the US in November with big shopping plans (meaning CHEAP shopping plans…hell yes. The Aussie dollar is the same as the US dollar right now but for some reason everything costs twice as much?) and I think bright pants are going to have to happen. I’ll take that necklace too, while I’m at it

Yay! So many fun, bright colors in this outfit! I love that those pants are corduroy.
