Sure, I could totally have worn this bright neonish fitted tribal tank with anything. A navy pencil skirt? Yes. A pair of high-waisted jeans? Yes. A pair of satiny black shorts (if I had those, yes). But no. I went ahead and wore this with my favorite skirt in the whole wide world, the oddly neutral striped pleated one. Usually when I get a crazy (new to me) piece like this tank I pair it with the easiest, most obvious item in my closet first, as if my new piece needs to be eased into my life so as not to frighten it. Well, sorry bright new tank, you’re going right into print-mixing territory with me this summer! No more tank-coddling!
For real, though. Why waste any time wearing boring outfits when you could take the time to think up a better one? Most of my clients have a zillion awesome outfits in their closets just sitting there, never having been conceived of! It just takes a little effort, but the payoff is huge (because you save money AND look totally cool!). You never know, you might just end up bumping into a thousand people you know when you go out to catch your friend’s show, like I did when I wore this happy getup.

This outfit is so daring – I am in love with it! You print mix like a pro. You should put that on your business cards!
