Here’s my modern-day take on what I used to wear in high school: crushed velvet. If I had thrown a flannel over this I might have had to stay at home all day to lay on my bedroom floor and listen to Nirvana while making a collage representing Anthony Kiedis’ and my wedding ceremony. Okay now I’ve dated myself…
Anyway, here I am holding the leash to nowhere once again. I wore these sweater tights even though it was almost 80 out today. What’s the deal with everywhere else in the entire world being under a foot of snow, and here in Texas it hasn’t even rained a drop in a month? I must say it makes it difficult to get into the holiday spirit!
I am amazed and overjoyed by all the comments you guys have left lately. I love reading each and every one of them, and I always enjoy visiting new blogs and commenting in return. I also post pictures on Chictopia and Weardrobe if you just don’t feel like reading my banter about my 90’s obsessions. I love it when you follow me too…I don’t think it’s creepy or stalkerish in the least!

i looove little velvet dresses like that! i thrift most of mine, and while i used to think crushed velvet was just a little too much, i have fully embraced it this year. i just picked up a crushed velvet jumpsuit that is vying for new year's outfit status.

I'm so on the velvet dress train this year, though I haven't bought one yet. I have yet to convince anyone else I know of the awesomeness of nineties retro velvet, but I will continue to try.
love the colour! x hivennn.
Hayhay!

I love the crushed velvet and I love that it's purple. I wish I could send you some of NY's cold weather and you could send me some of that 80 degrees…I'm in need of a little warmth!
I kinda think Velvet wont look good on me but you are totally rocking it. Love your pictures. You look adorable in the shots!
Laurel! Even more than your outfits (which are terribly cute), I have to say that it's your voice I that makes this such a special blog in my eyes. So funny and real.
So! That being said, I'll stop being a creepy stalker, and start commenting.
And — on a different note — also feel like Austin is having split personalities regarding the holidays. It's FREEZING! NO! It's HOT! What? Very difficult. To dress, I mean. My solution comes in layers, and specifically cardigans and scarves.
I adore velvet and crushes velvet and I bet you were the cutest grunge kid in school! 😀
Love your velvet dress! It looks great on you.

Yeah! The crushed velvet rules! Somehow you've managed to make it look ultramodern…must be the bright leash to nowhere 😉
That dress is awesome! I love the color. You can have some of our snow if you want. 😉

I WISH I could have been a teenager in the 90s. I've got a huge crush on the whole decade.
