Although it doesn’t necessarily guard against spilled condiments aside from mayo, this blue all over outfit kept me cool and comfortable while spending time outdoors sitting on a picnic table bench. I could have even sat on a checkered blanket in this getup, if it weren’t for the ever-present Texas fire ants…
Wondering what to wear for an outdoor eating experience this summer?
- Look for pale colors. The sun wont catch you quite as strongly in it’s laser beam, and you wont sweat as much.
- Select a loose-fitting blouse. I like this sleeveless one with the large armholes. It’s still fitted, but doesn’t cling.
- Shorts. They are just more comfortable to sit in if you’re going to be sitting on the ground or moving around a lot. A fuller skirt can be comfortable too, but nothing super tight or short or you had better wear some cute undies too!
- Comfortable shoes. These Toms wedges have a picnic-y stripe!
So there are a few tips for looking adorable while dining outside. I added some punchy colors to break up the blues, and felt like I could run around and/or stuff my face all day!

I love this outfit! I would wear it every day! The shoulder detail is super cute. It’s way too hot out to fuss with clothes too much so ultra casual, loose fitting pieces are definitely the way to go.
