This week has been all about the drape, I’m noticing (from my photos). I love a good drape top because it’s the easiest way to create a relaxed and modern look while remaining comfortable and hiding a midsection. Of course, the key is to show off and highlight the parts you want the world to see, and in this case it’s the legs and arms. If you wear a clunky boot with a voluminous top, you’re creating a nice balance and the eye knows right where to land: not your tummy.
But beware: drapey tops can be particularly unflattering if they cover too much, are too wide, or don’t drape properly. In general, it’s best to use your billow sparingly, and make sure the hem of the top hits you right below the widest part of your hips if it’s a longer length. If you’re in the market for the perfect draped top, check out the selection at local Austin shop Dog & Pony. There’s a huge selection of affordable and stylish relaxed tops like the ones I’ve been wearing this week, for instance!
