I am getting REALLY excited for my annual family vacation to Cape Cod. We rent a house and all nine of us make the drive out to the tippy tip of Massachusetts for a few days of lobster, ice cream, competitive book-reading, and spf. Historically I have felt a tad overdressed when I go to a beach town, but this year I think I have acquired the right balance of items and will be bringing only those I plan to wear. I hate paying for luggage more than I hate editing my suitcase.
Pale Colors with Bright Accessories. This outfit (wrinkly after a day of wear, sorry), is a good one for going out to dinner after a day at the beach. I know better than to wear anything dark-colored to Provincetown, where people leave the house wearing glitter and neon, and the same goes for any casual east coast beach town. I chose the preppy blue shorts and paired them with my favorite eyelet blouse for a dressier alternative to shorts and a t-shirt. The sherbet-colored wedges are comfortable and give the outfit a little more polished look than say, sneakers. So perhaps I am still a little overdressed for P-Town, but I don’t feel completely out of place. For daytime, I would switch the top out for a plain white tee or tank, and throw on some Chucks or Docksiders, if I really wanted to east coast it up.
