Wearing My Fall Dress in Summer

Summer Floral Dress

This dress is one that I bought with fall in mind. It’s a darker floral, a sort of warm synthetic fabric, and it’s kind of short. The kind of short I usually reserve for my tights-only outfits. But it’s the summer of skin around here these days, and who am I to label? I decided I can go shorter thanks to my somewhat effective self-tanner (Nivea, thanks) and I threw a thinnish belt over the elastic seam which is always a giveaway that the dress was pretty inexpensive. In fall the elastic seam can be easily hidden by a cardigan, and the pale legs by colored tights and boots, but there’s no hiding this summer, folks. I’m gonna wear whatever I can get away with! Oops, I just noticed that my seam is showing. Try not to judge.

If you’d like some help breathing some life into your wardrobe this summer, check out my new services! The Style Intro is only $65 and it’s the perfect service for ladies who want to see if some of their fall or winter items can be worn in the summer too.

I love pieces that I can wear all year round. This dress would also look amazing paired with tights for the winter! :)

That dress looks great on you, and I love how you paired it with yellow shoes. So fun! I agree that it would look great layered with tights and a cardi in winter. Seasonless clothes are the best.

  4. while elastic seams might be a giveaway for a cheap dress, i really like the way they look and feel. i don’t like feeling bound in at the stomach and these dresses are the perfect solution.

I don’t think you have any problem pulling off this dress without fall layering – and yes, it is super hot out, people are leaving the house in a lot less!

Oh, I really love your shoes! A bunch of the ladies in the office have them since we sell them on the site, but we only have ’em in cherry and navy. And I am FEELING yellow shoes this summer. You have awesome legs, so show ’em off, I say! And who needs a tan? Tan, schman. Damn the tan man. Okay, I’m done. 😉

  7. The floral print is divine! I love the belt too! Be sure to enter my £100 ASOS giveaway!

Love how you’ve summer-ized this dress! Usually it’s the other way around (layering up a summer dress for fall). That print is gorgeous and the shoes bring it right into summer.

I always have the elastic-waist-showing problem with outfits like this…well, in my blog pics, anyway. Have convinced myself that it is caused by posing with hands on hips, which is something I don’t do in real life (right?).

Tell me more about this self-tanner b/c I’ve never seen you look so perfectly golden.

    • It’s Nivea! One is called “Beautiful Radiant Legs” and the other is “Radiant Skin” and it’s cheaper. I started using that when I ran out of the legs stuff….Also it helps to live in Texas, where you get a tan watering the plants…

  12. This dress is way to cute to save for Fall! And I love how you paired it with those yellow shoes for that extra pop of color.

I say screw clothes being limited to certain seasons only (unless we are talking a heavy wool sweater in the middle of the summer)! Sure the colors may speak fall, but I think it works absolutely wonderfully for the summer.

Honestly, I am too poor for having a different wardrobe for each season, so I am all about wearing clothes all year round.

P.S. Your look gorgeous as always. Those sandals look ridiculously comfortable.
