So, while I was in Maine, we visited the outlet town of Freeport, home of LLBean. In high school, this is where I used to shop for all my back-to-school clothes. Not a whole lot has changed since then, save for the infusion of Starbucks and the crazy expansion of LLBean into a “mall for nerdy hikers” as my husband calls it. I did enjoy trying out the new “heritage line” at LLBean, which is basically their attempt at reminding people that today’s style is kind of maybe sort of similar to their original style of clothing. Except not quite.
What I wanted was a classic fisherman’s sweater, and what I found was a fitted, tunic-length one with pockets…anyway. In my quest for something super stylish to bring back to Texas, I ended up at the Clark’s outlet of all places. I know that this line isn’t exactly known for super sexy, of the moment shoes or anything, but I think the Wallabees have a certain charm. Oh and comfort. It’s like walking on a platform of thick jelly! So, back home I decided to style them in the most obvious way I could think of: autumnal corduroy with a menswear flair. I mean, Walt from Breaking Bad can pull these babies off, so I certainly can too, right?
One note about Wallabees: If you’re thinking of getting your own pair (and they come in many colors and textures!) make sure to order at least a size smaller than your usual size. They stretch out A LOT. These are 6.5 and I usually wear a 7.5 or 8.
