Transitioning to Fall: Beach Dress

beach dress in fall

I’m super wicked excited for fall, as many of us Austinites are, I am sure. Another thing I am is totally stocked up to the gills with summer clothes. Even though I used to live in cooler places, I sort of slowly watched my wooly warm winter garb disappear. Especially the dresses. That’s why I am extremely picky about my summer-wear and try to have only pieces that can transition well into the colder seasons.

This summer dress is no exception! Let me tell you, I wore the heck out of this dress last winter, despite the fact that it’s made from gauzy light cotton and seems to have been created for the beach, or at least the summer. Note the mix of darker and lighter colors, the belt-happy shape, and the potential for layering. Stay tuned for a video about my closet transition process, and for more tips, visit my previous post on the matter.

I hope to see some of you tonight at the 499 Dresses event!

  2. Hello to a fellow Texan! I used to live right near Austin and fall was always a much welcomed season. That is a really cute dress and the denim jacket goes perfectly with it.

Great look–I love how easy dresses can be with layering. And I like that you still wore open-toed shoes. Have fun tonight!

It looks like we’re in sort of the same season! It’s early spring for us and your outfit would be perfect for right now. I love these kind of temps because you can ditch the tights but don’t have to deal with sweaty pits. Looking forward to getting more trans-seasonal tips!

  5. Love the print of your dress. I may have said this before but it’s really Summer all-year round where I am. Hope you have a great weekend. :)
