Clients hire personal stylists for lots of reasons:
1. They have just gotten through a major life event and/or body change–new job, new move, new baby, newly single.
2. They have style but want new eyes and ideas to make it fresh again.
3. Their clothes are all outdated or not remotely cohesive because they avoid shopping at all costs.
Of course, these reasons aren’t mutually exclusive, and many clients have some combination of all three. Most clients, no matter what shape or size, do not like shopping or haven’t learned how to do it efficiently enough to make it pleasant. When clients see how simple shopping can be with a targeted list, a person to pull the best pieces, and an objective eye to guide decisions, they get real excited. And so do I!
So here’s a photo essay by The Netted Pigeon of a recent shopping trip with client Kathleen who needed some professional outfits to wear to business meetings. You’ll see me shopping the racks before her arrival to pull pieces in her size and style, filling her dressing room with all the options, and us discussing each piece as she tries them on. Nothing is better than seeing a client try something they never thought they’d wear and discovering how great they look!
