Retro Beach Town

Early Fall Beach Town Outfit

Another gorgeous sunny day in Provincetown brought a little chill in the late afternoon. The coast always makes me feel like I am in another era altogether, since things move more slowly here (because everyone is on vacation). If you ignore the drag queens and dogs with pink hair extensions, you could pretend you’re in the early 60’s. My twist on the early 60’s beach town outfit is high waisted jeans with a tied chambray shirt and the modern Ked or boat shoe: Toms. Okay, so the Toms are basically the only shoe I’ve packed, whatever. They go with everything!

I love to find new ways of wearing the pieces I already have in order to reflect a setting or mood. This outfit is something I probably never would have thought to throw together in Austin, and not just because it covers my skin. I was inspired by my surroundings…What do you guys wear on vacation?

You look so darling! And those are the high-waisted jeans you were talking about, eh? I love the way you have them rolled up! And I think you look perfectly “60s beach town” with this look.

OMG! A chill in the air would be so nice…I’m jealous! I love the tee you have on! I love visiting my family in WI in spring and fall, when it’s cold enough to wear my favorite heavy grey sweater…

Love this classic, beach-y look. And glad to see that you’re safe from Irene and still having a great vacation! Enjoy it – you deserve it!
