Red Jeans and Turquoise Necklace

In honor of my Urban Dealight Daily Deal, I thought it best to calm my nerves about it’s success by posting an outfit I feel most “me” in. Nothing is worse than feeling anxious about something, and then having to second guess your outfit choice on top of all that nervousness. I would rather focus on one anxiety at a time, thank you very much!

So, when I visit your closet for the first time, I try to assess who you are from your clothes. I ask a lot of questions about each piece, and try to get a sense of which pieces makes you feel most YOU. You know those pieces. It’s not just the jeans and t-shirt combo you wear everyday because it’s easiest, it’s the certain top or dress (or jeans) you put on that make you feel better than usual. And calmer. For me it’s a flowy top and bright colors. For others it’s polka dots, hippie shirts, or the color grey.

Most people have a closet that’s a mix of:

  • meh” pieces that you wear but don’t really like,
  • ME” pieces you love and can’t live without, and
  • ย “huh?” pieces you haven’t worn or don’t know what to do with.

A lot of you have a few awesome ME pieces that you never wear because you don’t want to ruin them, are saving them for the perfect occasion, or can’t figure out how to mix them in with the rest of your clothes. I love to find those ME pieces and bring them out into the light. What’s the point of having something that makes you feel good if you never put in on? Throughout our process together, I try to replace meh items with ME items, to make your closet a place you go to become the best-looking and feeling version of yourself. Of course the holy grail of styling for me is to mix ME items with Huh? items to create never-worn new outfits.

I consider the Style Intro as a quick way to learn about your MEs, mehs, and huhs, and show you a few outfit ideas to stretch what you already have into the best looks possible. If you take advantage of the Urban Dealight deal today, you’ll also get $20 off any future service, and get the chance to make your closet more totally YOU.

    i love this post.
i have made the decision to get rid of every crappy, “huh?” piece in my closet, leaving me with two suitcases of clothes to my name. i can’t wait to rebuild my wardrobe (someday…) with all ME pieces. now i just need to go shopping in Austin so you can help ๐Ÿ˜‰

I feel like I’ve brought a lot of Meh items into the closet on impulse becuase they tricked me into thinking they were Me items. Then I realized they didn’t play nice with any of the bras I own, or only looked good with jeans (that I just don’t wear nearly as much as skirts and dresses). Then there are the Me items like beaded mini skirts and turquoise sequin dresses that I just can’t find a reason to wear. I guess that’s what happens when you haven’t had a date since 2005 and your girlfriends never want to go out.

Hm, I guest I bought most of my “meh” -stuff yeeeeears ago. I mean, really years. When I was 12. And I can still wear this clothes, the only good thing about not growing ๐Ÿ˜€
It really shows your “me-clothes” (really great description by the way!) are bright colours. Suits you so well, you look so happy wearing them ๐Ÿ˜‰
My “me-clothes” may be skirts and dresses with ruffles or lace in dark rich colours. Sounds like I must be gothic-girl รด_ร–

I have a few huh pieces as well, but most of my closet is me!
