Kimono in Spring

Springtime Kimono

This kimono-type layer thing is that one piece that I love that sits in my closet unworn. I even hang it on my clothing rack sometimes, so I can look at it every day and maybe remember to try it with a few things. I guess the problem is it’s shapelessness, and the fact that it’s a layer at all. It’s one of those lightweight layers that isn’t warm enough for cool weather, but is an annoying extra that clings when it’s hot.

Luckily, we’ve found ourselves in a nice extended springtime here in Austin, and it’s perfect weird extra layer weather! When wearing a flowy kimono layer like this one, remember to keep it fitted underneath. Keep the waist defined by tucking or wear some shorts underneath to show a little leg. This isn’t the exact thing to wear when I’m trying to look perfectly proportionate or figure flattered, but it’s the perfect way to feel a little like Stevie Nicks, and who doesn’t want that?
