Sometimes, you just feel like wearing some amazingly wide legged pants, right? Well, I do. My friend Liz gave me these beauties and I love how long and tall they make me feel. But what the heck are you supposed to wear with super wide leg pants? These are dangerously and deliciously nautical what with the zippers, but today I chose to pair them with something simple and 70’s-feeling since let’s just face the facts: I was born in the 70’s.
Here are some things to try when wearing super wide leg pants or jeans:
- Keep things simple up top. Since it’s hot still, I chose to just pair my pants with a little slightly cropped blouse that had a dash of hippy-inspiration in the print.
- Remember the balance/proportions when selecting footwear. If you’re going simple and fitted on top, carry that leg-line with some chunkier shoes. Teeny tiny little shoes don’t work with wide pants because they kind of cut off your foot. I did a high-heeled clog-sandal to keep up the vibe and even out the leg. If your pants are long, a heel is particularly important. Remember the half-moon shaped ripped hem you used to rock in college with your bootleg pants? Yeah.
- Accessorize mildly, but boldly. The pants are the main focus of the outfit, so just do one larger piece of jewelry. I’m wearing earrings for my balance-accessory, but a big bracelet would also look nice. As long as the hypothetical bracelet is as chunky as the pants!
