Eeeek! Rain!

Mixed Prints and Cardigan over Dress

Okay, so maybe I overdid it just a tad, but it rained actual rain here and got below 80 during the day, so I dressed like an actual person should dress in actual October! With tights, a cardigan, and boots! And a scarf. Heh. Alright I was kind of hot all day, but look at my layers!

This outfit contains nearly all of my favorite things (that a person can wear):

1. Mixed Prints. The scarf I chose to wear with my striped dress has different sized polka dots, but the patterns don’t fight because they’re in the same color family.

2. Colored Tights. Also in the same color family and OPAQUE, which is key for bringing the most bang to the outfit.

3. Boyfriend Cardigan. As I explain in this month’s newsletter (sign up here!), the boyfriend cardigan is great over a dress! It’s a girly-tomboy look that works great here because it actually gives my slightly boxy dress a little more shape.

And of course we all know how I feel about stripes. Well, today it’s back to feeling warm, but it was fun while it lasted, wasn’t it?

Awww..that stinks that it has to stay so hot in Austin. I love the cooling temps of fall but being in southern VA is pretty much the same and it stay warm or hot most of the fall. But I still pretend it’s freezing cold;)

Love it!! I know you were hot, because I tried the same thing of dressing like it was actually October in some normal kind of land. After wiping sweat from my brow several times, I caved and got out an insanely summery sun dress. However, your outfit is a symphony for the eyes. I love it that the prints don’t fight. Sometimes I have to try to teach my prints conflict resolution, but they don’t always get it. Sent a wonderful client your way today. Hopefully she will follow through; I think it will be perfect for her and you will love her like I do.

    • Thanks, Ginna! Paul called this outfit “wetness outside, happiness within.” But I also like “symphony for the eyes!” And I sure do thank you a million for the referral! I’ll keep my eye out…

Aw I love this look! Those tights are a great color. I was pretty excited about dressing like it’s actually fall for the past couple days too. We got a bunch of rain here Monday and Tuesday and it really cooled down. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back to bare legs tomorrow though haha
