Creating Distractions

As some of you may already know, I am a huge skincare nerd. I’m making the shift to only using organic products on my face and body after talking at length about the benefits with Neu Skin owner Elizabeth here. However, sometimes I still get breakouts, especially on my neck. Luckily, I have a few tricks I can employ to distract from my unsightly neck blemishes since I don’t exactly know how to use photoshop and I also can’t photoshop myself in real life.

  • Statement jewelry. I love a good bold accessory, and giant earrings double as neck masks! If you’re wearing a pair of knockout earrings or a shiny necklace, onlookers will zero in on the shiny and not notice the zits.
  • Colorful scarf. Not only can I basically wrap up my neck, I can also punctuate my simple outfit. Keeping the rest of the outfit monochromatic makes the scarf stand out more and creates more opportunity to notice the scarf as opposed to the zit.
  • Strategic makeup. I play up my eyes when I want to distract from the rest of my face. Try a simple smoky eye in a complimentary color to that of your eyes’ hue. I use brown on my blue eyes to make them pop more.

So those are just a few ways I make myself feel better when I have zits and still have to interact with the outside world. I can’t get away with wearing a clay mask on my face all day, but I can wear a giant teal scarf for hours!

  2. Please stay a skin care nerd! You’re looking great and it’s so nasty some of the ingredients they put in our products. You’re an inspiration!

I always use my big hair to hide zits, haha! I like your method better.

Good ways of distracting 😉 I need to distract from my love bites instead of everything else right now, but scarves are too in-your-face ^^
