Bad Hair Day

How To Cure Your Bad Hairday

The other day I tried some deep damage repairing conditioner on my fading-fast red hair. I thought I would attempt to cling to the last vestiges of ginger by using this Whole Foods-endorsed organic concoction. Whoopsies. I ended up with slippery, shiny, smooth and extremely poofy (or poufy) faded ginger locks. It was as if even the slightest of breeze, would send the back part of my hair up in shock. A stroll across the room had me rocking the Alfalfa look.

So, despite a few sympathetic co-workers’ insistence that my hair looked fine, I took my pouf across the street to American Apparel in search of a solution. I have to say, they have come up with some amazing turban technology! Everyone’s been talking about how to tie a scarf over their heads lately, but this wire headwrap is where it’s at! It comes in an array of colors, but in typical Laurel fashion I selected the navy striped one. It stays put without sliding like cotton or silk scarves can, and you can bend it in many different ways. You could twist it into a bow or knot, or wrap it turban-style like I did here. The wires don’t pinch, either. Even though I still think American Apparel is pretty skanky, it is a great place to go when deep-conditioning goes wrong.

Oh and hey! I added a Client Testimonials page! Check it out, why don’t you?

I seriously wanting to get one of those AA thing, I saw couple floral (or is it velvet?) ones that I’ve been wanting to get it for forever, now I’m looking at you all cute like in this stripe one, I seriously thinking of going there and get one for me LOL…

AHAHAHA- this post was awesome! You had me LoL-ing! Definitely also because I can sympathize with this situation and feeling- and yes, turbans are the savior of this hair awkwardness! Hmm… I am just going to have to check out the American Apparel things- I didn’t realize they had turb technology- score! I totally love that skirt- that warm golden yellow makes me go ga-ga.

Holler young ‘un for your birthday month!! So Happy Birthday all month to you! 😀

Love the skirt…you really do wonders with yellow. And if that is truly what you consider a “bad hair day,” then I think you are doing alright!!

Hehe I like how you called it “turban technology”. You look great with it in your hair. I wouldn’t have guessed that you had a bad hair day at all. I would have picked the stripes, too. Can’t stop buying stripes!

I want to learn how to wear scarves in my hair like that, it always looks mega dorky on me and not in the right way ;(

  11. Laurel! I think this was my skirt! I sold it to Buffalo Exchange a few months ago. Is the waistband kind of wonky? It never fit me quite right, but it looks great on you!

I love the headband turban. I’m definitely going to have to stop by AA and check those out.

    • YES! The elastic always bends under if I try to tug the skirt down when it rides up. But I love the color, so I put up with it. Thanks for selling it!!! I also need a red pencil skirt, so if you have any wonky ones of those, let me know :)

I’m in love with the skirt and to be honest, I’ve never really tried anything on my hair except shampoo and conditioner. I did say a gazillion times that I want to color it but I’m afraid it might be damaged. Le Sigh.

the new turban is super cute! I’m sure it will be good for more than just bad hair days too. Love the purple belt with the yellow skirt – all kinds of adorable!

  15. Sophi says:

Oooh, I just love that purple belt with the mustard skirt. And hey, I think your hair looks like it looks fine underneath that headband, but, well, the headband is a super awesome piece itself! Maybe it’s fate. Or something.

    xoxo
