TROPHY BOUTIQUE

I started Trophy Boutique because I am addicted to the feeling that comes with looking over a client’s shoulder when they see themselves in a new way for the first time. There’s nothing better than being allowed into a person’s life and helping them express who they are on the inside through personal style. Trophy Boutique uses a psychological approach that’s different from what you see on those TV makeover shows. There’s no judgment or ridicule while I teach a client how to meet his or her style goals. I assess each client individually, taking into account body type, budget, and lifestyle. Personal style should never be taken too seriously, but should support you, make you feel confident, and let the world know who you are so that you can accomplish your goals. With Trophy Boutique, the process of discovering personal style is also actually FUN.

LAUREL

I grew up in the middle-of-nowhere Maine, where I spent hundreds of snowy days reading fashion magazines, drawing, and dreaming up endless crazy outfits. I was voted “weirdest dressed” in my high school yearbook. I got a degree in psychology at Reed College and a master’s in social work at Columbia University, where I learned all about what makes people tick, behavior, and the importance of empathy. Transitioning these skills to the work place, I worked with stylist Michelle Rodriguez of The Paid Stylist who taught me the craft of wardrobe consulting here in Austin. As a personal stylist my background has made me sensitive to the issues of body image, identity, finances, and anxiety that can sometimes come up during the process. My time as a social worker combined with my well-honed skills for entertaining myself have given me an irreverent sense of humor and the inability to take anything TOO seriously. My approach is always to have the most fun possible while making you feel the best you can possibly feel about the way you dress.

MY CLIENTS

I work with a diverse group of men, women, teens, and businesses. My clients are usually already in possession of some style, they just are either bored with it, are too busy to get it all done on their own, or need a push to try something new. I work with hotels, restaurants, and companies who want their staff to better reflect the business’ image, or want to explore a new overall look. I’ve worked with a host of creatives, small-business owners, moms & dads, grandmas & grandpas, people who can never find clothes that fit, people starting their first “real” job, public figures, CEOs, newly divorced single folks, people going through health issues or weight changes, and people who just want an objective eye to help them take it up a notch (or a few).
