Ruffled Floral

ruffle blouse and jeans

I’m not really a girly dresser a lot of the time. But, I do have a couple girly pieces I like to pull out from time to time and I always style them to balance out the girly. If you also shy away from super feminine pieces, try to pair them with more structured items. I paired simple jeans with my blouse to let the top shine, but also to feel comfortable and more myself. And myself likes to ride a bike sometimes, so this outfit works for that too!

Spring Pink

4 comments May 10, 2012

I got these pink jeans a few weeks back but they’ve somehow escaped the glory of a blog post so far! They are the perfect transitional piece for spring because they are light and cropped and oh so pretty with summery whites, are they not? I don’t usually recommend jeans from The Gap to my [...]

Boat Party!

1 comment May 7, 2012

Here’s an outfit inspired by my recent sojourn on Town Lake with the exceptionally wonderful staff at Service Menswear, in honor of yet another good friend’s departure to New York. Can I just say that it’s way more likely you’ll be invited on a boat here in Austin than in New York? Okay then. So [...]

Vintage Cowgal

Yes, I am wearing boots with shorts again, and this time it’s all about being a fun Texas gal, out and about in the summertime. These boots are great because they’re not too tall and don’t stick to the leg when it’s hot and I’m attempting the two-step. When you’re going out at night, before [...]

Draped Cat

A simple way to disguise a tummy and feel light and airy this summer is to wear a drapey top such as this one here. It’s the perfect way to feel breezy and show off those crazy pants every store seems to be carrying lately. A simply shaped, neutral-colored top is the easiest way to [...]

Once a Year

3 comments April 30, 2012

Just about once a year a lady’s got to get out of her comfort zone and wear something she doesn’t usually wear, just to see if it feels right. I am that way with cleavage-baring, fitted tops. I don’t generally do them. I don’t like thinking about whether my boobs are showing or not, and [...]

Shorts Rut and a Special Deal for You!

Do you ever get stuck wanting to wear basically the same outfit over and over again in juuust different enough iterations to avoid people thinking you’re unhygienic? I’m having one of those phases with the shorts, boots, and button-up shirt combo lately. I love the slight quirkiness this kind of outfit exudes, and the overall [...]

Saving Your Boxy Dress

Some dresses are a little tricky to wear. I see those tricky pieces every time I visit a clients closet, and I have a bunch of them in my own collection. However, I refuse to give up on those well-loved pieces that might not totally work all on their own. I think of them as [...]

Reality Bites.

Every so often I get a wild hair to wear these hideously awesome boots from the 12th grade. Yes, I help people part ways with their unworn clothing as a profession, but I do feel there are a few key pieces no one should ever throw out, even if they languish for years collecting dust. [...]
